2023
Thank you!
We started the year with many great donations to keep things going. We were honored to receive generous donations from the HF Presbyterian Church Mission Comm, from the Union Star Lodge #320 Masonic Temple, goods and cash from members of the Baldwin and the Ellis Camps of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War camps, and a very generous donation along with service from FingerLakes/IDEX Corp. Thank you all!
CareKits
We ended January with a bang - eight care kits sent as of this morning supported by the SUVCW (thanks, men!), and with a few left over items stored at "the shed", from the Bowleys' annual party. Postal charges and paperwork needed has changed mightily in just this past 6 months! Two more are heading out tomorrow - toward men and women with direct affiliation with HF, via the local Hometown Heroes Banner program. And they will also enjoy recieving a copy of one of the Smith's new books - Tit for Tat is heading out with those two boxes, to add more hometown flavour! The previous eight are with the 69th Inftry, stationed in Africa, from Manattan and Ft Drum. Such a difference in what we had been familiar mailing to Iraq and Afghanistan - different weather, different restrictions - always a learning curve!
BUT the meaning is always the same - we are thinking of you, stay safe, bless you!
Toys for Tots 2022!
This is the 12th year The Kade Project has collected and distributed with Toys for Tots, despite some concerns that popped up we were able to collect slightly over 2,700 toys this year.
So - here goes some: because of YOU, The Kade Project was able to collect and distribute OVER 2700 toys and gifts for Toys for Tots this year. Unlike many programs in ROC and other areas - many were REALLY down in donations this year, we had plenty of toys and gave them all out. Because of YOU - specific families were gifted needed food, clothing, financial help, and adaptive and otherwise toys at DayStar Kids with Medical Needs, at Nativity Academy Prep in Rochester; for welcoming FIVE newly arrived families from war-torn Ukraine - such a need there; we worked with Saints Place Pittsford to assist with needs for welcoming new refugee families from Ukraine, from Iraq, from the Congo, from Somali, from Burma, Venezuela, from Guatemala, the Sudan, Syria, and Puerto Rico! We continued work and connections with local Afghanistan residents from HF-L affiliated with Keeping Our Promise, the "Y" in Rochester, via food cupboards in Pittsford, HF-M-WB, Honeoye, and Lima - Lima alone had over 500 toys given to their immediate local needs, with more going to Avon, Livonia, Hemlock, Honeoye, Rush-Henrietta, ROC (other than 'programs'), Geneseo, Mt Morris, Hammondsport, Pittsford, Brighton, and Warsaw. For special GoFundMe 'programs' needs for three families , Because of YOU - boxes were filled (twice or three, and six! times over - just ask John Price - SEVEN full boxes ), new traditions hopefully begun - Lattimore and Main St Cafe!, Vanilla Lane cookies devoured!, Mendon Phcy and MMM#3 competing as to who would call first with another full box!, connections were made, no one was turned away, everyone was safe, dreams were fulfilled - for this season - and it was fun too!. Thanks to ROC Toys for Tots for encouraging The Kade Project to participate in Toys for Tots 'our' way without having to go to the city or the next largest area or present so much paperwork which would make many families out our way ineligible - makes a difference. But most? Thanks to YOU - you continue to prove this community is special, you continue to prove you care, that despite our supposed differences - no one should be, or will be, without. Final numbers are approximately 1670 gifts shopped for locally, 700 given to ROC needs, 300 given to KOP needs, 50 for Daystar, 50 small items for stocking needs for another venture, and bags given to both Lima food cupboard , and stored here for HF/M food cupboard needs in future (ie fire relief, etc).
Thanks, Troop 10 - the phenominal wrapping guys, Nancy & Randy, Mr Callen who again delivered ALL the boxes from the schools, Wayne & Lynne, John Price for bringing the last 3 of over 6 full boxes from Ed Jones Finance, for Ed, Rick & Lou, from HFL Middle School Noah Wells (year 6 for our Noah) and Hudson Reed - who both worked hard cleaning, straightening and helping people smile and shop, Kathy, Chrissy, Autumn, Debbie W, Jamie carting BAGS toys last minute, Mary Therese & Kent, Town of Mendon, and YOU. Special thanks to students and their amazing leader from the Genesee Valley BOCES: Yvette Seils and Emma, Kaitlyn, Kaden, Maddisson, Celeste, and Hannah - you kids will be in my mind for a LOOONG time - and the elevator incident!!!! Plus all the work you did!!! Can't wait to see you all again! Huge huge thanks to the folks from the IDEX Corp. - the phenominal work they did last year, and again this year cannot ever be thanked enough - We look forward to 2023, with some possible changes.
